Posted: April 21st, 2010 | Author: schindyguy | Filed under: Uncategorized | View Comments

According to his father, Gary is a hard worker and CNET's interview leads us to believe he wont be fired.
I cant even imagine the shit storm and backlash Apple would get for firing the poor guy…I can see it now

I mean he was celebrating his birthday, c'mon Apple cut him some slack

I am done with this whole saga and coverage. Where can I pre-order?

Let me pat Google on the back for trying to increase their transparency

Google just announced their government requests tool to the public with the underlying idea for greater transparency. However according to the FAQ, there are certain limitations. Censorship is not good with any medium, but I think the whole thing is a good step in the right direction.

Google Shows Results from People in My Social Circle? Now I know

Evidently, Google's Social Circle Beta was released back in January, but I just noticed the results for a search of "dodgeball" in Google.

Because I have emailed Andrew Warner before, it picked up on his blog about "dodgeball". Pretty cool.

This is a really great idea— now I wish I could connect all my social profiles (twitter, facebook, etc) together to get more realistic results of a term in my social circle.

The new iPhone 4.0 gets leaked—lost at bar

I got to say I feel bad for the poor shlub that lost this never released, most sought after device. I hope he doesn't get fired. I know Apple wants to keep things under tight control,  but this is generating a lot of organic/viral attention in of itself. I would pat him/her on the back…

Google and Twitter’s strategy has always been ‘build users first, then figure out how to monetize later’

Posted: April 14th, 2010 | Author: schindyguy | Filed under: Uncategorized | View Comments

But it really should be 'build users first, then figure out a way to screw them'

Twitter's founders had an interesting comparison of their own company and Google. They wanted to follow in the same steps as Google by building up users first (creating value and a sustainable advantage) and then figuring out a way to monetize. Well what did Google do when they realized they were the best search? They introduced ads…and now so has Twitter.

So why does Promoted Tweets screw Twitter users? Because Twitter will become the billion dollar company they want to be valued at and will lose focus of the value that got users on the site. They will be more focused on making sure they are making their investors happy than the 70% of users have a bad opinion of Promoted Tweets.

And if I hear 'resonate' in another piece of marketing material to make it seem like you are making the service better, I am going to blow my brains out. Why don't you listen to the majority of your users resonating that they hate the idea?

Don't get me wrong, I would screw users over too if I was them: they are looking at becoming (if not already) a major player in the ever shifting news business.

But don't expect your users to accept it with open arms.

Use Canned Responses feature in Gmail Labs for Different ‘Send As’ Signatures

Posted: April 13th, 2010 | Author: schindyguy | Filed under: Uncategorized | View Comments
I forward 10 different email addresses to my Gmail, but Gmail only lets you use one signature…
So I came up with a brilliant solution (that I am sure someone else has already thought of):

Use Canned Responses for multiple email signatures

Viola! Now I can send mail from different emails and have a professional looking signature to match!

UPDATE/HEADS UP: The plugin uses the Drafts function in Gmail for each signature/canned message. When accessing Gmail from the web, it doesnt show up in drafts, but when I access it from my iPhone, you see the signature/canned messages as drafts. I deleted them the other night and had to redo them
